WHO WE ARE
TEWI is among the main Italian manufacturers of different
components for resistance welding
for the automotive industry.
OUR STORY
TEWI was born in 1978 with some innovative patents in resistance welding:
– a series of ergonomic rotary joints to reduce the inertia of secondary cables in manual spot-welding guns.
– a project of modular spot-welding guns, with a new concept of a common body and interchangeable arms to work in different sections.
After homologating its patents in Fiat and Alfa Romeo groups, Tewi was requested to supply consumables in Cu alloys for resistance welding. Its reliability, its technologies and methods used in producing the first orders favored its development. Today Tewi is among the main Italian suppliers of different components for resistance welding for the Auto industry. It massively provides consumables in Cu alloys and is homologated to supply all companies of FCA group, mostly in the EMEA market, as well as IVECO, CNH, COMAU and 1st level of spin-off market.
Tewi was the first supplier to propose the female caps in CuCr1Zr and to promote their diffusion. From the technological point of view Tewi was also the 1st supplier to introduce the use of new Cu alloys with dispersion of alumina (CuAl2O3), particularly effective in spot-welding. Lately, it introduced also electrodes in the Z-TRODE alloy that can be used both for zinc-coated steel and Al sheets: they are chromium-free and eliminate the risk of polluting the environment with fumes containing hexavalent chromium. Over the last few decades Tewi specialized its processing departments to produce also components and subassemblies in Al alloys: arms, gun bodies and various elements that make up manual and robot guns.
Then it completed its production range with rigid Cu conductors and flexible shunts. Today it has a highly specialized staff of 20 people, with an ISO certification since 2004 (today’s ISO is 9001:2015) and has a constant turnover of >3,000,000 €. Almost the whole machinery park is made by the latest generations of NC machine tools, with presses allowing to bend Cu arms up to cross-sections of 7,000 mm2, and includes an internal area for brazing. With the year 2020 Tewi started its 42nd year of industrial activity, directed by Dario CAMURRI (1946), graduated in nuclear engineering, chief-executive since the foundation of the company.
